Agreement
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Holy Nations ("we", "our", "the app"). By downloading, opening, or using the Holy Nations iOS application, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the app and delete it from your device. They are written plainly on purpose — nothing about prayer, Torah, or the Hebrew calendar should be hidden behind legalese.
The service
Holy Nations is a reading and learning application. It provides: a Torah reader over the Tanakh with classical commentaries sourced from Sefaria; a complete daily prayer siddur with Hebrew, transliteration, and English; a Hebrew calendar with upcoming holidays and device-local Shabbat / candle-lighting times; short creator videos and audio teachings; editorial "programs" on universal topics; and RabbAI, an AI study partner. Features, pricing, and availability may change over time.
RabbAI is not a posek
RabbAI is a conversational assistant that points you to the tradition's sources. It is not a rabbi and its answers are not a halachic (legal) ruling. For any live halachic question — kashrut, Shabbat observance, family law, conversion, medical questions — consult a qualified rabbi or posek. We do not accept liability for any decision you make based solely on RabbAI output.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use Holy Nations. If you are between 13 and 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your sign-in credentials and for every action taken from your account. Notify us at hello@holynations.us if you believe your account has been compromised.
Your content
Anything you personally write inside the app — RabbAI questions, bookmark notes, reel comments — is and remains yours. You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to store and display that content on your own devices and, where applicable, to the AI provider for the purpose of answering your question. You are responsible for ensuring that what you write does not infringe any third party's rights.
Acceptable use
The texts in this app carry thousands of years of care. You agree not to: (a) use RabbAI or any other feature to generate hateful, discriminatory, sexual, deceptive, illegal, or self-harming content; (b) attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or redistribute the app's editorial content at scale; (c) impersonate another person, a rabbi, or Holy Nations itself; (d) interfere with the operation of the app or with other users' enjoyment of it. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, at our sole discretion, with or without notice.
Objectionable content and abusive users
Holy Nations has zero tolerance for objectionable user-generated content or abusive behavior.
Free tier and Premium subscription
The base tier of Holy Nations is free. An optional Premium subscription (Monthly or Yearly) unlocks higher monthly RabbAI allotments, Torah-audio minutes, creator-reel likes, and direct support for the team. Subscription billing, renewals, price changes, and refunds are processed by Apple's App Store under Apple's own policies; we do not store your payment method. You can manage or cancel your subscription from iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions.
Third-party content and libraries
Texts from the Tanakh and rabbinic literature are provided via the Sefaria API under their source licenses (typically CC-BY or public domain). Holiday data is provided via the Hebcal API. Short video embeds may link out to third-party platforms (YouTube, Vimeo). We do not control third-party services and are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices.
Intellectual property
The Holy Nations name, logo, app interface, and original editorial programs are owned by Holy Nations and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Classical Jewish texts are in the public domain. Where we use open-licensed third-party content (Sefaria, Hebcal, Unsplash imagery), we do so under the respective source license.
Disclaimers
The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Sunset, candle-lighting, and havdalah times are computed from your device's location using a standard astronomical formula; they are accurate within a minute or two on open terrain but should not be relied upon in place of your local community's published times for halachically sensitive moments.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Holy Nations and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the app. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of the Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount of subscription payments you made to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) fifty U.S. dollars.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Holy Nations, its contributors, and its service providers from any claim, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the app.
Termination
You may stop using the app at any time. We may terminate or suspend your access at any time for violation of these Terms or if continuing to offer the service becomes impractical. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law) will survive termination.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New Castle County, Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing in this section limits consumer rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will post a notice inside the app at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the updated Terms.
